Childrens' University

In the 12th lecture at the Childrens' University Weimar, young students between the ages of nine and twelve years explored the Afghan music which was forbidden during the reign of the Taliban but is now played again.

Using film, Philip Küppers and Jörg Sapper of the Institute of Musicology Weimar-Jena at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT showed how, following the war, Afghan students learn their traditional music a new.
With the help of musical examples, the children became familiar with the diversity of Afghan music culture. Markus Schlaffke (Bauhaus University Weimar) introduced the children to typical Afghan instruments such as the rubab.
